Nigel Collin.
Australia's leading expert in mindset, innovation, and adaptability for sustainable growth.
Biography
The Story Behind the Methodology
Nigel Collin has spent more than a decade finding out how frontline innovation actually happens in the real world. His premise is simple: most organisations don't have an ideas problem, they have an alignment problem. The good ideas are with the people closest to the work on all levels of an organisation.
He brings together three things few speakers do: original, on-the-ground case studies, 25 years of business acumen, and doctoral research. He works with leaders and their teams to unlock frontline innovation and align it to strategy through small, practical steps. And as AI reshapes how organisations work, he helps them pair it with the human ingenuity and frontline ideas that actually stick.
Nigel started his first business at 20 and sold it at 21, going on to build one of Australia's most prominent creative entertainment design companies in the business events sector. In 2013, armed with a video camera and travelling solo on his motorbike, he set out to find ingenious Australians and share their stories. That field research became Ingenious Oz Research and the foundation of the Game of Inches® methodology. Today he continues to find the most ingenious business and professional success stories across Australia, distils the key learnings, and presents them back to leaders and their teams.
Nigel earned his MBA with High Distinction from La Trobe University, where he now lectures in leadership, strategy, and management. He is completing his Doctorate of Business Administration on a full scholarship, researching how leaders enable grassroots innovation for sustainability. He is the author of Game of Inches, published by Wiley, the book where the methodology began. When not speaking, working with clients, writing or riding his motorcycle, he spends his time between Sydney and the rural mid-north coast of NSW with his family.
